Patel appeared on the John & Ken Show on Los Angeles talk radio station KFI AM 640.
In the 14 minute interview, Patel described how he and his parents served the community of Riverside, CA for nearly 19 years, creating a strongly loyal and supportive customer base.
He recounts the nightmarish day when his parents were called into what they believed was a routine meeting with 7-Eleven support staff.
Instead, they were allegedly ambushed by 7-Eleven’s “Asset Protection” team, who accused the family of perpetrating a massive Slurpee coupon fraud that cheated 7-Eleven out of $100,000 they were due.
Dev Patel claims that his parents were bullied, harrassed and intimidated into relinquishing their franchise rights – worth $450,000 and 19 years of work – on the spot.

Hear 7-Eleven’s corporate response:
7-Eleven, Inc. spokesperson Margaret Chabris wrote:
We are excited about the changes in the store. We know that the new management will run a store that’s responsive to the needs of the community and a model for other 7-Eleven’s in the market.
Change can be jarring, but we hope our guests will give the store another chance.
We’re sure they’ll be pleased with what they find.”
