THE JANITORIAL AGENCY Scam or No Scam?

The Janitorial Agency aka TJA aka (and formerly GMS Contracts) advertises what it calls a Master Franchise opportunity.

The Janitorial Agency website states:

“Own your own exclusive franchise.  We’re looking for a select group of entrepreneurs or business professionals who hold themselves to higher standards and desire to run their own janitorial agency master franchise with all the assistance and support that is needed to maintain the high levels of success. As an exclusive Master Franchise owner, you will have the freedom to run your own Janitorial Agency master franchise, with the proven model of success, and be rewarded for managing a high performance business. We help you do all of this without all of the hassles brought upon most business owners. You have your own business and you’re not growing it alone.”

The Janitorial Agency Complaints

Despite the friendly tone and assurances of The Janitorial Agency website,  a growing number of complaints and scam allegations are appearing on complaint sites throughout the Internet.

TJA Company [The Janitorial Agency] is a total scam. I have purchased they program for $7400.00 and they said it is  GUARANTEED business volume of $24000.00. If you get your contract, if you are lucky they will charge 20 % on your first contract. And willl say that $7400.00 was for setup package.

They send you to bogus appointments and then claim that it’s your fault for not obtaining the contracts. The client will tell them, they dont need a cleaning company…

Please save yourself from these company…

GMS Contracts/The Janitorial Agency Promised leads of quality janitorial accounts, never called once, Internet

A sales rep from GMS Contracts called me a few years back to sign up with them. She said for 840.00 she would be able to help us get contracts by setting up the appointments. After a year I never received one call. I called to ask for a refund, at this point they were changing their name to The Janitorial Agency. I spoke with Steve I think was his name and he said if they could locate the old records (whatever) that they would refund me…….imagine this, they didn’t locate them..

After trying many times to get a refund they said they would apply the money I was owed towards their new program that cost way more…….?! huh really? So now to get my refund they want even more of my hard earned cash…shut these crooks down….it has been many months since i last spoke with anyone

I looked up this board today after I got an automated call from them wanting me to sign up…the nerve…

The Janitorial Agency TJA Total Scam, Unable to deliver Lansing, Michigan

This company is a total scam. They do not have the contracts to give you and they don’t issue refunds if they fail to perform. They send you to bogus appointments and then claim that it’s your fault for not obtaining the contracts. A lot of the prospects are not looking for cleaning services and the so called “training and consulting” is something you can do yourself for less than $100 at the JanitorialStore. They can’t help you grow your business because they can’t run a business themselves. Look them up on the Michigan Better Business Bureau and the Michigan Attorney General. They have a lot of unresolved complaints. Look out for Sue Bowers and Denise Shattuck, they send them to talk to you when you file a complaint. They try to get you to retract your complaints so that they can screw you over. Google the name TJA scam and TJA complaints. There are over 30 complaints about them. Sue Bowers visit sites and try to write rebuttals when people try to complaint. It is not an issue of training and doing your part, they can’t deliver and want to keep your money as well

Terrible.  These guys are terrible. All I can do is beg people not to waste their money here. Imagine a sleezy car salesman, mixed with a con-artist, combine that with a serial liar, and you still wont come close to how low this company will stoop to get your money.

I signed up with GMS contracts about 4 years ago. They promised me marketing for life. Guess What??? It never happened now they want me to buy the 7,500 program. No way I don’t trust them. I’m looking to them to court. I can’t do it alone if one is interested in fighting so we can get our money back and to stop this scam email me [redacted]

  • I been placed on default for missing a walk thru that Denise admitted I never opened because it wasn’t sent. Now they’re requesting I pay $150.00 to get out of default.

  • i recently signed up for the premir package with a cost of 15500 its been 3 weeks in and nothing but lies. Prior to the signing they convienced me in quiting my job cuz they said I wouldnt be able 2 do both.So i did cause i thought it was legit well come to find out since the signing of the contract I have done nothing but sit and wait.now jobless moneyless and my future is bleak. the more i investigate i realize they are taking alot of peoples hard earned money and we are getting nothing in return but heartache

I sign up about three months with tja with $1000, two weeks later I have to give them $500, after that I have to pay $113 a week. All this is good only for the tja, all they care is about getting your money, but you cant pressure them or ask anything. Denisse was nice to me but Sue Bowers is like a snake ready to get you. they send me to two appoitments with no real potencial. after that one day Denisse called me about an ” opportunity of cleaning floors for a company for $30,000 for two years of work. but from that money I have to pay $6000 cash for commissions so from the $24,000 I have to buy equipment, labor and cleaning supplies. Sue got mad with me on the phone, and at this time im waiting to heard back from them. If you Know what I can do to start a law suite please let me know, they dont explain how they going to screwe you with a commission and $7400 just to start. has to be a way to stop these crooks. please e mail.

  • What's wrong with this world?

As I have been reading through these posts there is one thing that seems to be curiously common. Incredibly bad grammar, punctuation, and spelling. With all these traits in common it would only make sense that a scamming company would prey on those that fall under the less than average intelligence mark. Perhaps all contracts should be read and understood in full. There can always be hidden things in contracts, which is why it is always a good idea to have a lawyer look over the contract before you sign and give your money away. I do not agree with the things this company seems to be doing, but if you allow yourself to be swayed by promises of low start-up fees and large capital gains for any newborn business that is your own travesty. Perhaps you should think maybe this company was started with the initial idea to lure people in and trap them with commissions and other occurring fees that were “unexpected” from the get go. Realistically what company would sell a franchise for as low as 1000$. It would appear to me this is a prime example of the dog-eat-dog world of business and this company in particular seems to be doing very well with themselves with all of your money. A little extra thought and research is required to start your own successful business. Going out on a limb and purchasing the first franchise you see with a low price tag with no further consideration is only inviting the pain and heartache you speak of.

The Janitorial agency is a real total scam. They took $30000 from me and didn’t give me any business. I asked for my money back and they refused to give it back to me. I left them in the hands of the Almighty GOD. I will not judge them but GOD will.
