The Camille’s Sidewalk Café franchise in Greenville, South Carolina has closed.
Our condolences go out to Camille’s Sidewalk Café franchise owners Scott and Loretta Stephens.
The Stephens originally bought into the Camille’s franchise with a small location inside the Asheville Mall. They moved it to downtown Greenville in 2008.
The Camille’s franchisees had done OK for the first 18 months before a major downtown construction project blocked access to the restaurant and drove traffic from the restaurant.
Even with reduced rent, Loretta Stephens said they finally couldn’t weather it anymore.
August 10, 2013, the Stephens bid farewell to their customers on Facebook:
Camille’s is officially closed!
Thank you so much for the encouraging words and last time visits since our closing announcement. It was a pleasure to serve you the past 5 1/2 years in downtown Greenville.
Sincerely,
Scott & Loretta Stephens
We wish Scott & Loretta the best of luck with all future endeavors.
Camille’s Sidewalk Café’s parent company had not issued a statement or comment, nor had they removed the Greenville location from the Camille’s website at press time.
