We received the following franchise warning about the MATCO TOOLS franchise opportunity. According to commenter “TOMMY CHEUNG” :
“STAY AWAY FROM MATCO TOOLS. THEY WILL SELL YOU A BILL OF GOODS,WHICH IS NO GOOD.
“RUMOR HAS IT ,MATCO MAKES MORE MONEY SIGNING NEW FRANCHISES THAN THEY DO TAKING CARE OF THEIR CURRENT ONES.
“DARYL PRITCHETT AND MIKE RAMEY WORK TOGETHER TO SIGN YOU UP AND THEN KICK YOU TO THE CURB. I AM WORKING ON A LAWSUIT AGAINST MATCO, HOPING TO TURN IT INTO A CLASS ACTION SUIT. YOU MAY CONTACT JERRY MARKS AT MARKS AND KLEIN LAW FIRM AT [redacted], IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
“I INVESTED ALOT OF MONEY IN MATCO AND AFTER 3.5 YEARS THEY SHUT ME DOWN. WHEN THE ECONOMY SLOWED IN 2008,THEY PUT ME OUT OF BUSINESS.
“I ALSO SPOKE TO A PREVIOUS EXECUTIVE, WHO CALLED ME, AND STATED THATS THE WAY MATCO DOES BUSINESS. STAY AWAY FROM MATCO TOOLS AND RUN LIKE HELL WHEN YOU SEE THEM. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY OR INVEST IN MATCO TOOLS…”
Marks & Klein is a legitimate franchise law firm that often represents franchisees in lawsuits against their franchisors, but we haven’t verified with them whether a lawsuit against Matco Tools is in the works or not.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? IS MATCO TOOLS A GOOD FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITY, A FAIR FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITY OR A FRANCHISE SCAM?

I have been told two years for Snap-On Distributor.
When did Bob start selling off a truck for Matco? 2 Years.
“Gary didn’t fail, just didnt want to do it anymore.”
OK Matco1, I can understand why you didn’t want to be a DM anymore and I BELIEVE you………….what I don’t understand is why can’t YOU believe that Matco has churned out hundreds of DBR’s (unfairly) over the years ? If you were a DM… YOU KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT HAPPENS OVER AND OVER AGAIN !
Todd, the state I live in is a right to work state, non compete is non excistant. No worries for me always been with Matco.
Did you notice Debbie didn’t comment on the rumor she is going to be “ladycornwell”
Just scared of you Tommy. I will when Guest does
Matco teaches D.M.’s to ignore, ignore and ignore, maybe the distributor will go away, don’t answer the question, just run.
matco controls everything that you do even though they say they dont. they monitor everything that you do. they know what you sold, when you sold it and how much you sold it for and where you got it from. thats why they have mdbs and change it on a continual basis
whats the count on the defenders side, still the same.
good comment gary
Richard they don’t know where you got it from.
Here is another one for you, they know when you have been naughty or nice too.
No Tommy they teach them to ignore you, but I failed that class.
Tommy having a defenders sight was an attempt to get happy franchises away from you.
Matco1 14k a week average. I love it. Did a good chunck of that today. Hard work folow up and making money the MATCO way.
I’ll buy you a beer at Expo.
Matco#1
So you went back into a truck after being a DM? Did you take over a route a distributor failed in or did you taste some of that Matco HOME COOKING Bob got where he took over a failed route which had 450 customers in it then added another whole city which takes more than a day to service. Probably two days and I almost guarantee over two hundred customers.
Remember Matco’s minions are here to:
Discredit
Disrupt
Derail
Distract &
Distort the truth
AND apparently to GO FISHING :)
Ok sounds good, great job…I can’t wait until the economy gets better….lol
Todd,
The dbr I took over moved. He was at 80%. he had 550 headcount. 200 of the headcount went to a couple dbr’s an excisting dbr who had lost some headcount and a new dbr.
So I got 350, and just to put it out there now…no I did not get to survey my own route. Someone else came and to do it.
My previous route when I first started last century, had an asshole previous with a 5 year gap and 30 plus year snap on guy. Talk about having tp bust my butt.
Definition of MINION

3: a subordinate or petty official
5d’s… Debbie you could fit right in with MATCO management
Admin hit the nail on the head OVER a month ago, and the continual bickering over petty nothings have only proved his statements:

Debbie:
I’d just make the point that these issues are now every distributor’s problem. Even formerly content franchisees & distributors are going to have to grapple with these issues as more media attention is given to allegations against Matco.
We posted first thing this am about the class action suit: http://www.unhappyfranchisee.com/franchise-lawsuit-matco-tools-scam/
The NY Post also published an article about Matco, Danaher and TD Commerce Bank: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/td_bank_tool_case_LFdZzYpQKpxieyeMSf6OMP#.TsJ7b0Hh3BM.email
This is going to be a PR nightmare that will undoubtedly affect the Matco brand both on the consumer and franchise opportunity level. If Matco/Danaher is smart they’ll acknowledge that there are serious problems and announce immediate, major steps and policy changes being taken to help their franchisees succeed and break the cycle of failure.
debbie i heard a rumer that matco gave you added area some time back,to help ypu.true?
debbie your facts 1 bait and switch- i have been a dbr a short time and when i had to do my ride alongs my dm gave me everyone in my districts name and numbers and told me to call whom ever i wanted.1st non fact…
#2 inflated list of calls, when my dm seeded my route i was there for sme and how was he to know if the techs can buy tools, right or wrong he went to service manager and asked for count of techs, not how much money they will spend or if they have good credit. that was to be my job..#2 non fact
Todd said: “What? Is that how you are able to type on here all day? Because Matco approved you to have some other guy run your route and you screw him to make money? Or are you taking advantage of people who didn’t have good credit and equity in property so Matco wouldn’t let them start their own. Maybe the guy just needed a job and you are helping him. Good for you Kevin. But the fact is you are making money off of someone else”
Sorry I wasn’t able to type on here all day (like you). I was running a tool route. I can’t take three weeks off at the end of the year. Might be hard on the business.
So some other guy is running my route? Wish I knew who he was. You’re starting to sound like Debbie. And just to make you sound a little stupider (if that’s even possible) my employee is the most successful plus truck in Matco’s history. Top 30 this year, for the 4th time. So yeah, I’m screwing him. Just ask him- he just hates his job! And yes, I’m making money off of someone else. it’s called being a business owner, and having an employee. I suppose you have a problem with that?
#5 over selling of tools, i have been to all but 3 meetings in 2 years and not once has my dm pressuered anyone there to buy any tools. it is our choice. #3 non fact
LOL – I now understand –
guys LIKE to go FISHING for hours and they just don’t care if they catch a thing
#7 excess of credit hey you buy what you can afford watch your numbers its your business, its not a candy store. #4 non fact
debbie more non answers?
matcoman
You probably ought to stay out of this you are not helping these guys at all. Have you been drinking or did you just get your G.E.D?
im still in business ,i love my MATCO store
dont drink and went to college ,law.
Matcoman its your turn your on the hit list. You can’t make money by following the model. LOL
Kevin BERGMAN
Is this the Bergman that walked across the stage in the top 10 in Cancun?
matcoman…………you went to college to study law and ended up a tool dealer? That just made me spit out my eggnog, CLASSIC ! Good thing you know about law, you’re going to need later on when Matco trashes your life. LAW………HILARIOUS !
all i ever here is waaaaaa,ITS NOT MY FAULT. hey quit blaming MATCO IT WAS YOUR BUSINESS>you failed it not them .
hey gary if you were selling and not drinkin you could be still out sellin
I know I must be stupid. After all I trusted a company called Matco to treat me fairly in my Franchise Distributorship with them and I believed their lies of what they said I could acheive if I worked hard and bought my tools from them.
Sure I am stupid! I let a DM from Texas and Regional Manager from Texas come to my house and force me to give up what I worked hard to acheive. Of course I had to be threatened to lose my franchise before I did anything. But the kicker is I did sign a route list giving this New Distributor 350 customers to call on but that was good enough for Tim. Tim wanted to ruin me so he sent Rick Pena back for more shops.
So how does that happen? Matco has no record of the previous route list. But I can prove it.
Yeah, no one makes any money by the model(wink, wink). I can only imagine if Debbie and Tommy were Mac or Snapon.
Oh by the way Tommy, I have already figuired out you are making money at this(just check out what you said in earlier post) or maybe you are working off your retainer.
matcoman………….That little red squiggly line under the word means it is spelled wrong. Didn’t they teach that in college ?
LAW………..CLASSIC !
:-)
matcoman- nice non truths…
by my count you has over 600 custumers? how could you service all of them?biweekly? every 3 weeks? this is a custumer service business.
Oh I am also stupid enough to know that a guy with 2 trucks can’t run them both. It is physically impossible to handle the job of selling and collecting in two places at one time.
Now, maybe you can tell future Matco franchisees how to be a successful multi-franchise owner. You do own more than one franchise , right?
i dont use spell check gary,i hate to type, but you guys and girl(who does not like to answer quest) just upset me. you failed let it go. when i started this i went in knowing there was a chance to fail.me and my wife figured how much we probably may loose if we did. and we took the chance.
matcoman
I think you should look into being the next Matco spokesman. You sum up Matco to a tee.
Jesus Christ! Please put your hand on this matcoman and guide him through the Matco shaddow of death! I hope he fears no evil for he is sure to see it soon!
hey there is not a business out there they guarentee that you make it.think about it.
todd its your bed time.
Kevin is one of your employees jobs to type comments on Unhappy Franchisee because that would explain a lot of things!
todd its your bed time, go brush your teeth and get ready for bed….
there you go todd,go to sleep,go to sleep. its ok todd just go to sleep
ok tommy your turn.time to go to bed,
tommy come on lets go time for bed…
