    Today is my Birthday and I was wondering if anyone in Stow, OH knew about a DM CONVENTION which took place in LAS VEGAS, NEVADA in which my route was used as a training tool in a SOUTHWEST REGIONAL meeting by that REGIONAL MANAGER (Tim Novak), who threatened a guys Franchise months before, on “How to use SpyWare (Google Map,MapQuest and MDBS) to steal customers from DISTRIBUTOR’S.

    Please!!! Tell me I am just making SHIT UP! That I have no PROOF!

    Come to think of it I heard that Jason Neil was a DM at this time too!

    Jason! Can you confirm that you had DM training at a DM Convention in Las Vegas where GOOGLE MAP and MDBS were used to FRAUD a FRANCHISEE out of customers just for the sake of establishing a route enabling BONUSES to be paid in that REGION?

    God FORBID this actually took place. Would make the company look like their Ad campaigns were FALSE when Tim Gilmore says “Unmatched SUPPORT”. More like “Unmatched Hostile Takeovers”.

    i started to look at a dealership untill i talked to dearlers in sc,nc,pa,nj and last ny and all but one told me do not do it you will fail under the contract that is offered or forced on you i am so happy that i looked deep into all of it before it was to late. To anyone looking at doing this i will tell you thing use the dealer phone list that is given to you and call dealers to see what they have to say about how there doing and ask about the support that corporate poeple said would be there for you………what i found is once you get your truck and tools your on your own and thats why i did not move forward into the matco family……this is only my opinion i could be wrong??? dig deep before you leap!!!!

    THE MESSAGE IS GETTING OUT, LIVES AND SAVINGS WON’T BE DESTROYED

    What a phenominal f$ck$p that would be on the part of Matco. They used you as a case study then terminated you, or did they terminate you first then used you as a case study? Either way!!

    I know for a fact that there are many ex/current Unhappy District Managers (new blog potential) and that many of them are starting to come forward. A few of these guys were in the room at that DM Convention.

    You can forget about little ole’ Jason as he bleeds Matco red and doesn’t have the stones to step up and tell the truth, Matco told him to shut his yapper on the UF blog and he obeyed…maybe with a subpoena though

    if the turn over is about 200 a year times an average $70,000.00 start up fee, that works out to be 14,000,000.00 on non feasible routes. this does not include the 15% restocking fee or the handling fees or the double shipping fees or all of the kickbacks from all the vendors or other companies involved.
    thats just if it is only 200 a year, which increases by 70,000.00 for each individually added person.
    so we get duped into thinking that the npa is based off of approximately 1500 dbrs when there is no such thing. kinda sucks huh.
    its all in how you market the numbers, just like in the videos that keep changing.
    the one number that wont change though will be the final settlement. ouch, thats gonna hurt.

    thank you for your comment. there are going to be a whole lot of closely guarded secrets that will come out. i would only hope that some of those with all the information would step up and help to make things right. there are alot of people and families being ruined because of greed to a select few.
    there are many people at matco that just turn their heads to what is going on just because it is a job and they dont know if they can find another one. its just getting some with the intestinal fortitude and proper morals to step up and help to right the wrongs.
    there is so much bs in the world today, not just at matco.
    there needs to be jail time for taking advantage of people and their finances to line their own pockets.
    some people have never had to work hard to make a living and they look down on others as stupid or lazy or worthless or any word meaning less to them when in all those are the very people that helped them to get where they are today.
    i will say that most and not all have stepped on alot of people to get where they are today and they forget who put them there, the underdogs did. does someone want to argue that point. to do so would mean that you would have to be completely honest and i dont think that too many would want to risk what they have by doing that.
    any takers, im ready. just be prepared to prove what i ask publicly.

    As of this morning, matco has 748 jobs on http://www.careerbuilder.com. They went from 515 yesterday to 748 today.

    Could they have terminated 233 in one day or are they looking to split routes and add more people, which means cutting territory and cutting headcount.

    Once again, matco breaks the law by posting franchise opportunities on a job site, franchises are businessess for sale, not job opportunities, section 5 of the federal trade commission, states you can not post businessess for sale on job sites. We all need to call the ftc and log another complaint.

    What doe Frank Dicaudo do for matco, anything, or just draws a paycheck?

    TOO many distributors are having an impossible time paying their TOOL BILL

    . Too many distributors are finding it impossible to meet the
    National Purchase Average.

    The legality of the NPA IS being challenged in court.

    TOO many DBRs are finding Matco’s prices TOO high however; are restricted from buying elsewhere.

    THESE ARE VALID ISSUES!

    The success of some distributors does NOT automatically deem them superior

    NOR does the failure of some distributors automatically find them at fault.

    There are REAL reasons distributors fail –
    Hard Working, Dedicated, Invested, Honest
    distributors fail because the current system
    does NOT ALLOW THEM TO SUCCEED.

    Yes she failed. She failed to do her due diligence up front and uncover the fraud.

    .So did I. Once I figured out the scam, I dropped this gig like a bad habit, and moved on with my life. I’m now back in my old career making more money than the top distributor could even dream of. I have a normal life again, and thank God for it.

    One other thing I’ll say is that though Matco is guilty of some serious recruiting scams and business practices, I think every one of these tool companies are having similar issues.

    Why? Because the business model as a whole is flawed, for more reasons than are practical to cover here. It has failed to keep up with the times. Think not? I have some Kodak shares I’ll sell to you – cheap. If you’re considering a tool franchise, I hope you’re a lucky sort. You’re gonna need a lot of it.

    people ask what is trying to be done here and if it was fixed would we go back, not.
    its not about the job its the practice.

    we would just love to have our money that we have invested, lots of.
    good credit that we had before we got into all this.
    reputation, we are not failures as so many say.

    some have lost families from all this, that cannot be replaced.

    i have learned that when people screw you and you catch them and confront them then they just fix that and look for another way. so hell no i wouldnt go back to work for them.

    the whole job market is about only a few making the good money while all the others work their ass off. advance auto store managers get bonuses for keeping their salary costs down. i am not going to work for someone thats gets a bonus for not giving me a raise that i deserve.

    those of you here that have lost nothing are lucky. you better just watch your ass because when all the failures are gone ther wont be anyone else left to go after but you. so who will be first…….waiting……. waiting……..

  • I am not a matco distributor, i am looking at becoming one. Came to this website to hopefully get some insight and answers. unfortunately what i have found is name calling and gibberish. Who cares where matco lists jobsites, what does it matter in the long run. The only person so far that has a legitimate gripe, and i have read the entire post, is todd. Todd even by your own admission you fell below the npa for a time.

    Everything that the complaints are about are all things that are listed in the FDD at least the one that this website has posted. I have watched all the videos, and yes mr gilmores video did change. The fact of the matter is that report did exist, i studied in college in 1987. Obviously recent is a relative term. That was the problem with the entire report, very subjective,was not based on imperical data. The bottom line is you purchased the right to use a name, purchase at a discounted price from retail and that is basically it. I have owned my own business before, so i know all the homework and hours that have to be done. I also had a failed business, mine was expanding at the wrong time.

    using all of my cash to double the size of my fleet and the 6 months later fuel prices doubled. Under the belief shown here i should file a lawsuit against the oil companies, or perhaps every country in the middle east. Everyone has to take responsibility for themselves, if you think a big corporation is going to be looking out for you even if you are one of their distributors then you need a lesson in business. The only thing that matters to a corporation is the DOLLAR. If they have to be nice to customer to get that then they will.If they could show their true sides and still make a buck then you would see many more sites for angry people.

    I just read recently the best places to work article. If those companies could get the same quality people and productivity without the perks, then they would not have the perks. They have learned to earn more you have to spend a little.

    good luck to you david, because there is alot of truth here. everybody does not put everything here because this is not the place to debate it or let matco know exactly what cards you are holding and what proof you have.
    if you get lucky and get a good route then you will truly be lucky. matco usually subdivides the routes so as to only sustain the 325 in the beginning.
    the usual rule of thumb here is you will get one in 5 of those customers.
    everything that can be bought at matco can be found elsewhere a lot cheaper and is exactly the same product. you will usually pay more for it yourself from matco than your customer can getting it from somewhere else. thats hard to compete with.
    anyway good luck, you are going to need it.
    check out the matco tool website and compare it to other tool websites, your customers will. its the same product with the wrapper changed. and the price increased. been there done that.

    I know these posts can seem like a turn off but read between the lines. Matco Tools and TD Bank are being accused of FDA loan scam. That to me does concern me on two levels. The first is, this is how my tax dollars are being spent? The second is if the franchise is such a great money maker for the franchisee then why do the numbers have to be changed? I understand it is your own business but what if your investment and newly assigned territory is setup too fail at the very beginning? If you are considering getting involved in a Matco truck you should consider your options.

    Also keep in mind Snap On has sow great products. If you have a strong snap on dealer you will struggle making sales. Most customers around 75% of them rather buy snap on products then any of the other brands. This is a fact because the survey with done with an outside company that surveyed like thousands of random techs. Just so you know the average snap on dealer averages $7500 a week in paid sales. Most know are over 10k. Richard is right. A lot of Matco products are sold in other stores with another name on the label for a lot less. I would strongly consider doing something different. I would maybe call snap on. They usually don’t have many routes available but a much better company to be a part of.

    Your excuse that “fuel costs” put you out of business while you were “expanding” at the wrong time is a seriously flawed comparison to a “Franchise Business Model” that claims and promotes “World Class Support” while taking 200-300 distributors per year out of business…But hey, Matco will take your money. Come and get your World Class Support

    BTW just a friendly reminder, you really have no clue what you are getting yourself into with the tool business

    Welcome, all the new people here tonite, look at the number of failed people,not the name calling, the number of people that have failed is huge, everyone has blame to share, but you do not own your business, you are controlled by matco.

    They have a select few who get premium routes with good head count, other come into failed territories and are gone by next week.

    THE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT IS FLAWED AND NEEDS TO BE CHANGED.

    THE WAY MATCO TREATS DISTRIBUTORS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED.

    The FTC Prohibits Franchise Ads Masquerading as Job Ads ” therefore it DOES matter ‘where’ these fictitious “jobs” are advertised

    it IS FRAUDULENT to promote a franchise opportunity based on lies
    There can be no claim that a distributor can grow his business by 10% every year if the franchise units are on a steady decline.

    You cannot promote your franchise as Number One in your category……..
    when YOUR CATEGORY doesn’t exist………yes that matters too

    It doesn’t matter when you devote 60-70 hours a week to your business – because there will be those that can only tunnel vision the number of days you drive………… the FACT that you OVERNIGHT IN A HOTEL is forgotten

    It is MUCH EASIER for some to repeat the same droning whines instead of accepting FACTS

    It is easier for anonymous posts to suddenly appear claiming they now have an interest and their opinion and assessment magically lends clarity because the REAL VICTIMS the distributors that have been terminated, divorced, and left bankrupt………… clearly don’t have a clue

    Of course we always have the OBC shills that spout insults because they lack the possession of facts ………..or apparently a dictionary or a spell check

    “Been waiting for tool credits from my district manager…for 2 years now”

    “Vacation? What vacation, Expo is not a vacation”

    “My manager conveniently lost over $2000 worth of tool credit sheets…twice” (that was me)

    “Constantly chasing that tool bill”

    “Easy to sell, real tough to collect my money”

    “It was my fault…I believed in the company”

    “Love selling tools, love my customers, hate management”

    “I left busted disgusted and deep in debt”

    “Matco ruined my credit over a mere $700.00”

    “Tools are too damn expensive to sell”

    “WTF happened to Redback and WTF is this China crap”

    matco isthe best, they help me when i call, my dm is always there when i need him, i could not ask for a better partner in my business, i work 5 days a week, my tech all respect me ,there must be some mistake elsewhere, becuse its great here.
