We received the following franchise warning about the MATCO TOOLS franchise opportunity.  According to commenter “TOMMY CHEUNG” :

“STAY AWAY FROM MATCO TOOLS. THEY WILL SELL YOU A BILL OF GOODS,WHICH IS NO GOOD.

“RUMOR HAS IT ,MATCO MAKES MORE MONEY SIGNING NEW FRANCHISES THAN THEY DO TAKING CARE OF THEIR CURRENT ONES.

“DARYL PRITCHETT AND MIKE RAMEY WORK TOGETHER TO SIGN YOU UP AND THEN KICK YOU TO THE CURB. I AM WORKING ON A LAWSUIT AGAINST MATCO, HOPING TO TURN IT INTO A CLASS ACTION SUIT. YOU MAY CONTACT JERRY MARKS AT MARKS AND KLEIN LAW FIRM AT [redacted], IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

“I INVESTED ALOT OF MONEY IN MATCO AND AFTER 3.5 YEARS THEY SHUT ME DOWN. WHEN THE ECONOMY SLOWED IN 2008,THEY PUT ME OUT OF BUSINESS.

“I ALSO SPOKE TO A PREVIOUS EXECUTIVE, WHO CALLED ME, AND STATED THATS THE WAY MATCO DOES BUSINESS. STAY AWAY FROM MATCO TOOLS AND RUN LIKE HELL WHEN YOU SEE THEM. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY OR INVEST IN MATCO TOOLS…”

Marks & Klein is a legitimate franchise law firm that often represents franchisees in lawsuits against their franchisors, but we haven’t verified with them whether a lawsuit against Matco Tools is in the works or not.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?  IS MATCO TOOLS A GOOD FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITY, A FAIR FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITY OR A FRANCHISE SCAM?

    matcoman,

Or should I call you uncredible commentist.
    No NAME! No FACTS!

Just PRAISES from someone with NO SACK!

  • Debbie Solko

Organized – I have gotten some angry phone calls, (well angry
Voicemails and hang ups when I actually answer)

A few angry emails- threatening to sue me if I call and harass them
    again.

Although, not seeing how ONE phone call informing a group of business
owners of an Association is harassing?

The comments on Facebook have been especially vile,
which only proves to me I’ve struck a nerve!

I personally believe the Fortune 250 company, MATCO
    has muzzled their minions!

The little men with big egos apparently are really
scared puppets that do as they are told.

Of course there are still the few that refuse to accept the plight
of the terminated, kicked to the curb, failed distributors.

“let them eat cake”…….. I can hear them now, clueless- THEY are
happy and it beyond their comprehension others are not.

  • matcoman

no one called or wrote me to be quiet, i just got tired of the whinning from all of you, the i get phone call from you guys and i could not leave well enough alone,i get a call from an ex dbr who could not or would not work 5 days a week and oh my god had to spend the night at a hotel so i worked another day, called me hey because you short yourself let it go get off the phone get off the site and maybe find a jog that will let you work 3- 4 days and not get canned, and for your info i love this job and so do alot of others in matco, they do care , because you could not keep up your sales you think it had to be matcos fault, hey techs by, lube techs buy and advisors buy, you have your own problems.let it go.

  • matcoman

if you have a question i will answer it,not like others on here,

    Debbie
It is a dog eat dog business however you dont eat the dog in your own family.

I am amazed at the hypocricy on this blog by the current franchisee’s, especially Matco#1 Jason & Matco2 who flamed you and Todd with 700 posts condemning everything about you including starting the Distributor Association which BTW benefits everyone…then I read this on the blog with Jim Lager:

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Snap-on-Tools-Dealer-Association/181193135313159

Thank you for your support. I will have it open to all dealers. Yes it is a Snap-on dealer association for now but I want to share my knowledge and help all dealers that are being taken advantage of. Its really too bad because a tool route can be a great opportunity for a young ambitious dealer to learn and grow. Few new dealers understand everything these big companies do to manipulate us. I hope to have site up later today. Please for now if you have a face book page go to the above link and like the site. There is no content yet but there will be. Understand we don’t have to get out of a route to prosper. There are succesful dealers that need help increasing profitability. This is not just about bashing these companies, but we do need to point out their misdeeds to get them to pay attention to us.

If the above link doesn’t work mark Jim lager as a freind on facebook and I will push the link to you. I should be the first jim lager on face book. The picture will be a family picture at a high school graduation.

This will be very interesting to follow.

There was something called a.association for Matco but was for destruction of all and the gain of few with out looking for answers. Any help that was offered was over looked and went to sarcastic poems and utube videos by the originator.

    MATCO#1 on January 3rd, 2012 9:32 pm

Hmmm Interesting Jim, I like the angle you are going towards, have a sight that people can help people, unlike the other sight here, just a bitch fest.

Look forward to seeing how it evolves, thanks for the invite.

So these hypocrits throw their support behind the competition Snap On (no offense Jim great idea for you guys) for the exact same idea Debbie has…

These clowns would make excellent politicians, they support and then dont support the same idea at the same time!!

Good for you in that you are doing fine in your business, congratulations, kudos, we applaud you for making it past 2 years in this business and hope you can succeed for the long term…however these people are much further along in their careers than you and are seeing problems, major problems, that you have not seen yet…you will though

    matcoman,

Do you realize when you get inventory that you order from Matco that often it looks like it was on someone elses truck because Matco took CHURNED Distributors inventory and sold it to you for FULL LIST because you are a CHUMP?

Do you know Tim Gilmore had to EDIT one of his advertisements because he had FALSE information in it?

Did you know Matco is not a Franchise but an Employee opportunity just like careerbuilder.com says it is?

Did you know Matco makes up ROUTE SURVEY”S to make it look like you were not doing your job so they can FALSELY TERMINATE YOU?

Did you know that even though you were told three times in 1 1/2 years your route would be surveyed by your DM Matco would still send you a letter stating you are not at 80% of the NPA even though you only have 154 customers that are on your route list to service?

Did you know that Tim Gilmore still claims on the video he edited that Matco is a GOOD choice in a BAD economy and a GREAT decision in a good one? 37% SBA failure rate. Almost 50% churn rate. SOUNDS like a GOOD choice to ME!

  • Todd,

You make a good point of getting truck worn merchandise with your order. I had signed up for the PDI program trying to get a 10% discount, but the kicker is the constant price increases nullified the savings. A complete waste of time.

  • matcoman

the pdi is 15% and i will take that all day long

  • matcoman

do you realize that on my orders if a tool looked like it came off a truck it had a sticker on it and when checked i got my discount. did you know that for years i thought and heard that a franchise was better than an indi.think about it i tried to start a business as a shop owner rent 7k and up utilities 1k and up shop tools and equip 3k and up all this a month. lets see my truck and everything on it PAID FOR but if not 1300 mnth fuel 6k all last year exp. 3 k all year whats the better business.

  • matcoman

did you know i was there when my route was surveyed all techs counted, then i cked after and was ok, did others do that ?????? did you know mr gilmore was right this is the best busness in this economy.i work 5 days a week and some sat. great job. and says the mac tool guy and cornwell and snap on just do your business and work hard.

  • matcoman

did you know not everyone was cut out to be an owner you must drive yourself to get better, some think can work 3-4 days and money will just come inNOT staying at a motel at night is not working taking fri off is not business smart fri is payday for most and techs pay and spend on payday. work smart work hard it will work for you.

  • Debbie Solko

    Why am I here?

Why would I put myself through the juvenile name calling and character assassinations night after night?

Because the issue is bigger than me.

Some think if they make enough noise and divert attention the REAL problems and illegal activities will get buried, Matco is well aware they can destroyed an individuals finances and ruin their lives and Matco is also aware that same individual will be left without the resources to fight back.

Well Matco is now finding out the tables have turned as HUNDREDS of mistreated, terminated, damaged distributors have united and ARE fighting back.

If it makes the little men feel big and important to slap around
a woman while hiding behind a fake name and a keyboard… so be it

SBA Loan Fraud is real and a Federal Offense

Distributor Churning is real and it is illegal

    Question…..

You and several of your friends work for a company that produces prescription
Medications. You find out one of those medications causes cancer. Now if you tell
the World – lives will be saved! But, your friends jobs could be affected~

    Hmm, the BIGGER picture

    I know what I would do….

  • matcoman

with the sba loams .just because someone says it that does not make it true, let bthe courts decide, dont keek saying its true when you dont know anything .2on churningjust because alot of dbrs fail dose not make it so,this is a very hard business, tech skip out and not pay business fail shops close matco gave you an area that you accepted,we all can say no,not all areas are sutedfor everyone, that is why one dbr may make it while others fail, but you cant blaim matco for that, they need dbr all over to take care of ther custumers, so to only work 4 days and complin that matco failed them is wrong,if i lost one day on my route i dont think i would survive.3 on carrer builder this is a carreer i dont see a problem matco is tring to get people jobs in this economy, it it goes to court so be it let them decide, not you let it go and go on with you life.

  • matcoman

on the cancer issue no questin on that but matco sells service not drugs, and if new dbrs cant do that then we need one that do. and be able to keep there numbers up.

    LOL

    A nerve has been struck!

    The latest comment on http://www.ladymatco.com
“It takes more than a set of t*ts to sell tools”

Is that the best come back they have?
How do they expect to be taken seriously now?
    An anonymous juvinile insult.

Thank you for making MY case!

  • richard

so what does it take to sell tools
i see that matco has its fair share of tits hanging out there in their calendars, gotta be something there.
i dont know of too many guys that want a calendar with a bunch of guys on it with their nxts hanging out.
i always thought that wrenches were for nuts and hands were for tits, never seen an advertisement for a tit wrench have you.
i do believe that its the whole picture that matters. i have learned that usually when a mechanic has a beef with the tool man/woman it is because he owes them money and is not paying. then he wants to talk bs.
money talks, bull sh#t walks. when a person wants to do the right thing then they do, if they dont then they find any excuse that they can not to. we cant change that part. there are a lot of people that will find any excuse to not do the right thing. whose fault is that, not mine. i tried to do the right thing and lost.

  • “It takes more than a set of t*ts to sell tools”

According to the Old Boy’s Club, it takes beer guts and man boobs. Must be the key to OBC success! LOL.

Debbie, may I suggest a theme song for the Matco Franchisee Association? It goes to the tune “Sixteen Tons.”

    “Matco Tools and whaddya get?
Another day older and deeper in debt.
St. Peter don’t call me cuz I can’t go!
I owe my soul to the company Stowe.”

Actually, someone else posted the company Stowe line. Great pun, whoever came up with that.

(Much better song than “Matco, Matco Man! I wanna be a Matco Man!”)

  • Todd A. Peterson

    matcoman,

Did you even graduate High School?

Reading your posts on here is like me reading my 5th grade sons homework to make sure he does it correctly.

The point of the above comment is that you are CONSTANTLY pointing a finger at us and saying we are the problem with our Franchises but we know how to use sentence structure and spell most of our words correctly.

We also provide some basis of a complaint with some form of FACT to back it up!

You provide NOTHING! All you do is rant and rave like a 3rd grade chicken with his head cut off!

If you love Matco! I say GOOD FOR YOU!

This site says Unhappy Franchisee for a reason.

  • Matco2

Todd realy have you stooped to what your last post was? I expect that from others who have done it from the start.

I just checked to see what was happening here and wow is there no point to this or is this just bash anyone for any reason.

Debbie its always fun to watch you do something and if you don’t like the responce again your a victom.

  • Todd,

Not only did matcomanchild graduate High School but according to one of his previous posts he also went to college and majored in Law………….no wait, he also mentioned he also turned wrenches for 30 years? Your guess is as good as mine.

IF YOU DON’T STAND UP FOR SOMETHING

YOU WILL FALL FOR ANYTHING !

  • Debbie Solko

I bet it is “always fun to watch me”

After all – THIS pair of t*ts that has been accused of lacking
    the ability to sell tools……

DID cause the lawyers of a Fortune 250 company to pow wow on Friday
And WAS the topic of discussion for DMs Nationwide!

    Amused me ;)

  • Todd A. Peterson

    Matco2,

Seriously! You think I am stooping! Read his posts! No FACTS! Just random attacks at Debbie! If Debbie didn’t get a viable route from Matco to start her Franchise with the promised 325 minimum. Then Matco ‘s idea of SUPPORT was for her to drive all over the F&%^ing place wasting her time, money and fuel trying to make route work for MATCO. Why in the HELL do you refer to her as a FAILURE!

Why am I responding to a bunch of WEAK minded, ADOLESCENT children who don’t have the STONES to post a name to their COMMENTS.

Your PATHETIC PATRONAGE to a company that abuses their RIGHTS to sell FRANCHISES disgusts me!!!!!!!

  • Todd A. Peterson

What are my charges to Matco: LIES, FRAUD, BREACH of CONTRACT, FALSE TERMINATION, FALSIFYING DOCUMENTS, DECEPTION, DECEIT, FALSE ADVERTISING, SBA LOAN FRAUD, FALSE NPA, THEFT BY DECEPTION, SELLING UNVIABLE ROUTES, SELLING ROUTES ALREADY GETTING MATCO SERVICE because DM’S and RM’S are TOO f$%^ing lazy to get off their ASS and do their job.

YOU WANT FACTS? Let’s talk about STEVE CHUN! Does Matco want to talk about STEVE CHUN?

This is a guy from Northwest Arkansas who has been in sales for years. Some DM from Matco (Anthony Kramer) signed him up to be a Distributor for Matco. SO Steve expects to get a route in JOPLIN, MO. He gets a truck goes to training in STOW, OH then comes back to Arkansas to start a route after loading his truck to find out that he is going to service customers that already have a DISTRIBUTOR from Matco for over TWO years.

REMIND ME!!! WHY the HELL are you guys DEFENDING MATCO!!!!

Go ahead explain how the HELL that happened!!!

  • Todd A. Peterson

Who screwed my FRANCHISE? (ANTHONY KRAMER(DM) and TIM NOVAK(RM) Who sold another unviable route to Steve Chun? (ANTHONY KRAMER(DM) and TIM NOVAK(RM)

You want more proof? Talk to Debbie TIM NOVAK was her RM too!

By the way! Steve Chun is a terminated Distributor in the UFOC’s provided by UNHAPPY FRANCHISEE.

SO, if anyone is still interested in BUYING a MATCO FRANCHISE call Steve first. Matco may have paid him off but I don’t think he would recommend this company to anyone.

  • Tommy Cheung

Guys and gals, remember to post complaints also to the CANADIAN FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION, I beleive their website is http://WWW.CFA.ORG.

  • Debbie Solko

    http://www.cfa.ca/

I couldn’t find a blog but was able
to send them a comment. I filled out the contact
form with a Warning to avoid Matco!
The fields on their form are in French ;) the
last field is asking for your email address

It is important to get the information to Canada
as well. I’ve already been contacted by a guy
in Canada. He decided to pass on Matco after
I explained what is happening in the US

  • Debbie Solko

    A post on https://www.facebook.com/pages/Matco-Tools-Distributor-Association/293379297348041?skip_nax_wizard=true
show a LEASE sign in front of the DC in Nashville

I don’t live in TN but that would make me wonder????

    OnceBitten TwiceShy writes:
Whats this? A “For Lease” sign in front of the Matco Distrobution Center in La Vergne TN? Hmmm.
Form your own conclusions – I know a lot of techs in Tennessee already have. It just makes my day when I go to sell to someone and he says – “But arent you guys going out of business? I saw the for sale sign.”
(Picture is in the public domain and obtained from Google Maps – you can check it yourself here – http://g.co/maps/aybt8)

  • Tommy Cheung

Looks like my old route has churned another distributor, its availible on career builders.

WAY TO GO RAMEY AND PRITCHETT.

  • Debbie Solko

The Career Builder site is a JOKE…………….

The numbers of “Active JOBS” is SOOOO inflated, just like our LOC!

They list the SAME Franchise opportunity **NOT JOB** several times over
(The FTC prohibits advertising Franchise opportunities AS JOBS – yet Matco does it over and over)

IN Colorado there are 18 Active JOBS listed

Actually, there are ONLY SIX – NOT jobs – FRANCHISE OPPORTUNITIES

    Denver
    Colorado Springs
    Longmont
    Boulder
    Glenwood Springs
    Canon City

Each location is listed ONCE on 12/27
    ONCE on 1/9
    once on 1/19

So why? is the Active JOBS number listed as 18??

Just another LIE, inflated numbers to LURE???

Would this qualify as ‘bait and switch’??

IF NOT, it at a minimum DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING PRACTICES

  • Tommy Cheung

RICH, GIVE ME A CALL WE CAN HELP YOU.

  • Todd A. Peterson

    matcoman and Matco2.

Hopefully your silence today is YOU realizing that we are not making these stories up but have legitiment concerns for anyone who might consider Matco Franchises as an opportunity to succeed in their own business. We are the people who are TAKING A STAND against a Franchisor who has put the needs of their OWNER (DANAHER CORPORATION) over the needs of those who they sell FALSE hopes and dreams of being self-employed and independent business owners.

Matco has been pushing to have ALL contracts that are TERRITORY and CHARTER agreements converted to LOC agreements so they can have COMPLETE CONTROL over THEIR customers.

Shouldn’t the customers be the FRANCHISEE’S? PRE-DEFINED LOC

Why does Matco Advertising repeatedly talk about TERRITORY if there is NO territory?

  • Debbie Solko

Amen Todd, HOPEFULLY the realization that this IS NOT some self serving pit party of blame BUT I IS A STAND FOR **ALL** DISTRIBUTORS FOR FAIR TREATMENT

Nobody wants to rock the boat……………….
…………Nobody wants to “THINK” their company could be harming them

History has proved that every time a WOMAN makes a stand…… she is an easy target for ridicule, and many try to dismiss her claims as hormonal ravings………….

Norma Rae successfully orchestrated an election to unionize the factory, resulting in victory for the union.

Erin Brockovich lead point in a series of events that would involve her lawfirm in one of the biggest class action lawsuits in American history against a multi-billion dollar corporation.

    ………..pretty good role models :)

SBA Loan Fraud is real and a Federal Offense

Distributor Churning is real and it is illegal

Selling routes based on inflated LOCs is wrong

Promising WORLD CLASS SUPPORT and delivering nothing….. is wrong

The FTC Prohibits Franchise Ads Masquerading as Job Ads ” therefore it DOES matter ‘where’ these fictitious “jobs” are advertised
it IS FRAUDULENT to promote a franchise opportunity based on lies

Repeatedly and knowingly setting up hard working individuals in non viable routes and counting the days til they fail – is IMMORAL , misleading, and FRAUD

baiting in VETERANS with false promises is REPREHENSIBLE!

Asking distributors to perform warranty work, and NOT compensating the labor is a violation of Federal Labor Laws

    The list goes on…………….

    The Attorneys have lined up……………

The LAW SUITS ARE BEING FILED…………..

The smoke screen of name calling is not going to stop the LAW SUITS

The mobile tool industry IS going to change!

MATCO TOOLS…I HOPE YOU ARE LISTENING

OBC…I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE LISTENING AND SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING A CHANGE OF HEART, DEBBIE/TODD/TOMMY ARE FIGHTING FOR YOU GUYS TOO

MATCO AND THE OBC CLUB SERIOUSLY UNDERESTIMATED THIS WOMAN AND MADE ALL OF YOU LOOK LIKE CHUMPS WHILE HELPING HER BRING ALL THE PROBLEMS AND LEGAL ISSUES AT MATCO OUT IN THE OPEN

THERE IS A TERM COINED MANY YEARS AGO FOR HOW SHE MASTERFULLY HANDLED THIS, IT’S CALLED “ROPE A DOPE”

    “ROPE A DOPE” DEFINITION:

Today rope-a-dope refers to any strategy that involves “playing the loser” to “come out the winner.” Rope-a-dope strategy implies the need for sharp technical skills to “take the hits” on the downside, and shrewd timing to break through at the proper moment to claim victory. Political strategists, pundits, politicians, business men and even combat tacticians use the phrase to refer to risky maneuvers that take one from a position of the seeming underdog to one of victor.

    SOUND FAMILIAR GENTLEMEN??

  • richard

i like the part where they tell you that they go out to the tech schools and colleges to help get you customers that will use matco tools. when what they really meant was that they will go out there and give these people a line of credit and sell them tools cheaper than you can buy them for and then let you collect their money at no profit to you and usually will cost you if they dont pay cash. thats them helping you. ya gotta love working for someone like that, right…NOT…….
there are so many thing that you really dont think of in the beginning because you really dont understand. they brain wash you into believing that they have your best interests in front of their own…NOT…..
then there are the ones that cant see past their nose to believe any of this, those chosen ones must have a glass belly button, because that is the only way for them to see since their head is so far up their bottm end…YEP
it will all work out though. you cant have all these people from so many different walks of life to have so many of the same complaints with the same company. it just dont work that way. thats tits or no tits for some of you. just saying.
it will all be sorted in the end. we are all entitled to our own opinions, thats what being free is all about. so dont tell me how to live my life unless you want to pay my bills. im not telling you how to live yours. i jsut hope that the chosen nones can come back here and make the same positive comments as now. you probably wont. change is coming and it wont be in your best interest i can assure you.
have a wonderful day. im going to.

“IT WAS NOT FUN WHILE IT LASTED”

RecruitMilitary has held 11 previous events in Nashville, drawing 6,572 attendees and 295 exhibitors.
Job seekers will have the opportunity to network and possibly interview on-site with corporate employers and law-enforcement agencies, as well as government employers, franchisors and educational institutions. The expo will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the East Club of LP Field, located at 1 Titans Way. Free parking will be available in Lot C at the stadium.
Some of the venders include Hospital Corporation of America, Goodman Manufacturing Company, Nashville Electric, BNSF Railway, Grand Canyon University, Home Depot, Matco Tools, Nashville Metro Police, UBS Financial Services, the VA’s National Veterans Employment Program, Army National Guard, Bethel University, Tennessee State University and G4S Secure Solutions.
RecruitMilitary recommends job seekers bring at least 20 copies of their resume, however, due to new regulatory laws, some companies and government agencies will require you to apply online and upload your resume electronically. Attendees are also advised to dress as you would for a professional job interview.
Veterans are encouraged to register online in advance so the expo can be prepared for a certain number of attendees, however this is not mandatory. More information about this expo and about RecruitMilitary in general can be found online at https://events.recruitmilitary.com/.

Vet info seminarThe Clarksville-Montgomery County Career Center, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, will host a Veterans Information Seminar from 10 am to noon, Tuesday, Jan.31 at the William O. Beach Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane. The seminar is open to all veterans and spouses, as well as those in the process of transitioning out of the military.
Veterans can hear presentations from representatives of several local organizations including the Legal Aid Society, Tennessee Higher Education Commission, Centerstone Supportive Services for Veterans, Not Alone, and Disabled American Veterans.
Additionally, I will give a briefing about the services offered at the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization to include information about VA disability compensation and health care, and Michael Elliott will discuss services for veterans available through the Career Center.
No RSVP is required, but attendees should arrive no later than 10 a.m. This is not a format allowing for people to come in and out to receive literature or speak one-on-one with the agencies for the duration of the event. Instead, the representatives will be giving oral presentations and answering questions.
For additional information regarding the seminar, please contact Michael Elliott, veteran outreach specialist with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Clarksville Career Center, 931-648-5530, ext. 106, or michael.elliott@tn.gov.

Matco is setting out to destroy Vets with good credit!

It seems Matco is expanding their DEEP DISCOUNT program to the work force DIRECTLY! No longer are they satisfied with selling to tech’s in training schools. It seems they steal your customers directly now like in this Ad I found on gijobs.com through J.B.Hunt.

J.B. Hunt: We provide many incentives including driver bonuses, tuition reimbursement, relocation assistance for managers, and company discounts. For ex-military personnel, we have a program through MATCO tools that will provide them with a basic set of quality professional tools they will need on the job at a deep discount.

This would explain why I was unable to sell to a couple of guys who already had a vast variety of Matco tools when they started with JB Hunt. Including boxes!

Yet my DM used that shop with customers already loaded up on Matco tools as part of my 328 he said I had.
