In October, 2019, PIRTEK announced that it had committed to a multi-year sponsorship deal with Team Penske. For its first-ever foray into the NASCAR Cup Series, the deal would make PIRTEK the primary sponsor of the #2 car driven by Brad Keselowski for two races in 2020 at Dover and Daytona International Speedways. After the COVID Pandemic caused the Dover race to be delayed, the PIRTEK car was put in a Wednesday night race at Datlington instead. Despite having been the race leader and earning a top 5 finish, the PIRTEK logo was rarely seen in the broadcast. (UnhappyFranchisee.Com) PIRTEK USA is a franchised hydraulic hose repair and replacement chain. With systemwide sales in the tens of millions*, it’s a pretty tiny company compared to the many Fortune 500 multi-billion dollar companies participating in NASCAR’s premiere Cup Series. But in its effort to race with the big dogs, PIRTEK USA has committed half of its franchisees’ marketing dollars ($500K to $750K maybe?) to sponsoring Team Penske cars… first in the Xfinity Series and now in the big-time Cup Series.
Not only did the race have 4 million fewer viewers than the preceding Sunday’s race and 2 million fewer than the following Sunday’s Coca Cola 600, FOX FS1 rarely showed the #2 PIRTEK Ford despite having been the race leader at one point, and finishing in the top 5.

At PIRTEK’s Cup debut, there were no fans, no hospitality suite, no tickets to give away, no time to plan any sort of promotion, and no exciting checkered flag finish… as the race was called 20 laps early due to rain. Broadcast exposure for the PIRTEK car seemed intentionally minimalized.
Brad Keselowski made a respectable showing in the PIRTEK #2 Ford. While he raced mostly in the 13th to 15th position, he was the race leader for a spell and finished in the top 5.
However, except for the small logo shown by the in-car camera, PIRTEK got minimal exposure and no mentions from the announcers (Who called it the “#2 car” or “Keselowski’s blue and yellow Ford.”).
The most dramatic indication that someone was intent on making sure PIRTEK got as little exposure as possible were the shots on pit road.
The pit stops are a valuable opportunity for sponsors to get exposure since the car is stationary and visible for 5-15 seconds.
The FOX FS1 broadcast featured 12-15 cars in their pit stops.
All but the #2 PIRTEK Ford was shown from an unobstructed camera angle.
Despite being the race leader at the time, FOX FS1 switched to a camera angle that hid the PIRTEK logo behind the pit signs:

Note how these camera angles clearly show the sponsor logos for an extended period of time.

Sponsoring a few NASCAR races isn't out of line for someone in their business.
Their main competitor Parker Store used to sponsor John Force's cars in NHRA drag racing.
Looks like the have switched to yet another competitor Gates Industrial.
As far as TV exposure it comes down to the luck of the draw.
If your sponsored driver is leading the race, your brand will be in front of a lot of eyeballs.
If he is 2 laps down he will only be on camera as the catch him being passed by other drivers.
Once you are off of the lead lap no one cares about your pit stops.
NASCAR has hemorrhaged viewers in the last 10 to 15 years.
Going to a playoff style Chase format has been popular with sportscaster but not fans.
One thing I loved about NASCAR is every race, every lap all counted the same.
You could watch different strategies.
Some drivers would just shoot for consistency, always finishing toward the front of the pack maybe winning one race a season.
These guys would amass a lot lot of points.
Other drivers went for the win every week, if they weren't on the podium they were on a roll off truck.
When this plan worked they were unbeatable.
When it failed, which it did most of the time, their feast or famine performance made for great TV but didn't win championships.
Now it is WWF on wheels.
I grew up watching it and have not watched a race for over 15 years.
I have dealt with the Parker Store in my area and they are top notch.
Getting dropped by Pritek may be the best thing to ever happen to the gentleman who blogs here sometimes.
I see he now has a few Parker stores in Texas.
FWIW I had never heard of Pritek before finding them here.
In some cases having a guy show up and make your hoses could be convenient but for me personally I prefer to go to the brick and mortar Parker store.
They stock thousands of different fittings and hoses, way more than you can fit in a van.
I looked up a Pritek franchisee and some locations have brick and mortar stores and a mobile truck.
At least you have the option to pick up a hose rather than pay the trip charge.
No idea what that is and they don't mention it on the page.
