WORKIZ LIES: The JDog False Success Story

WORKIZ claims to be the #1 field service scheduling software provider.  The Israeli startup has raised $20M from multiple venture capital firms including Aleph Venture Capital, Magenta Venture Partners, New Era Capital Partners, Maor Investments and TMT Investments.  Has the need for a dramatic success story led them to promote a false tale for a company targeting U.S. military veterans?  by Sean Kelly

WORKIZ is an Israeli start-up based in San Diego, CA.

Its CEO is Adi “Didi” Azaria.

WORKIZ has apparently chosen JDog Franchises, LLC to be its poster child for the WORKIZ scheduling and management software program.

New JDog franchisees are reportedly being required to sign up and subscribe for the service; current franchisees have been strongly encouraged and incentivised to use the WORKIZ cloud-based system.

With access to JDog franchisee’s activities, expenses and reporting, WORKIZ is in a unique position to see the harsh reality and challenges facing many JDog franchisees – all of whom are military veterans or military family members.

WORKIZ is also in a unique position to see the high turnover rate, as reflected by the number of terminated accounts and the changing list of current JDog franchisees.

And between having insider information about both the JDog franchisees using their service and those they hope to sign up, WORKIZ should know exactly how many JDog franchises are in operation.

Yet, WORKIZ aggressively and broadly promotes a success story for its most celebrated client that appears to be an… exaggeration.

Not by a little.  By a LOT.

WORKIZ claims:  “JDog Expands to Over 1,000 Locations Using WORKIZ.”

FACT CHECK:  FALSE

According to the latest JDog Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDD), JDog has never reported more than 174 operating junk removal franchises nor more than 20 carpet cleaning franchises.  Their websites only list service areas, not franchise locations.

WORKIZ Claims:  “JDog is approaching 300 locations nationwide…”

FACT CHECK:  FALSE

In their promotional material, testimonials, videos and a webinar with JDog CEO and founder Jerry Flanagan, WORKIZ promotes the claim that JDog is on approaching, on the verge or just under 300 locations nationwide.

Again, the Item 20 section of the latest JDog FDD indicates that JDog has never reported more than 174 operating junk removal franchises nor more than 20 carpet cleaning franchises.

WORKIZ Claims: ““JDog Carpet grew to 30 locations in 4 years…”

FACT CHECK:  FALSE

According to the JDog Carpet Cleaning & Floor Care FDD dated June 16, 2023, JDog Carpet had opened a total of 18 (eighteen) had terminated 9 (nine) and had 9 (nine) in operation.

JDog Franchises, Inc. disclosed that it plans to open 15 new franchises in the next fiscal year.  Even if they achieved that goal and had no closures, they would still have fewer than 30 operational carpet cleaning franchises operating.

WORKIZ Claims: “So we’ve already launched up to over 30 carpet cleaning franchises…”

FACT CHECK:  MISLEADING

In his video testimonial praising WORKIZ, JDog CEO Jerry Flanagan states ““So we’ve already launched up to over 30 carpet cleaning franchises…”

Mr. Flanagan may be telling the truth by saying they launched “up to over” 30 carpet cleaning franchises rather than saying that “There are 30 JDog Carpet cleaning franchises in operation.”

It’s misleading to promote the number of franchises launched without disclosing the number that subsequently went out of business.

WORKIZ Claims: “JDog had ‘massive growth’ since contracting with Workiz….”

FACT CHECK:  MISLEADING

Jerry Flanagan’s claim that the supposed increased efficiency & cost-savings attributed to WORKIZ contributed to JDog’s “massive growth” belies the fact that nearly as many veteran-owned franchises were terminated or transferred as remained operational.  If Flanagan is referring to the role WORKIZ played in recruiting enough new franchisees to replace the many who failed and are now in bankruptcy and crushing debt, WORKIZ should clarify that.

WORKIZ Claims this JDog Franchisee Uses WORKIZ

FACT CHECK:  FALSE

In multiple videos that appear on their YouTube, Vimeo and other platforms throughout the Internet, WORKIZ features a JDog Junk Removal franchisee who demonstrates how he used (used) the WORKIZ software.  WORKIZ continues to feature the franchisee in its videos despite knowing that the franchisee, like many other military veterans they must delete from their system,  is out of business and likely lost his entire investment and more.

WHY MUST WORKIZ PROMOTE A FALSE SUCCESS STORY THAT MISLEADS VETERANS?
