According to the Small Business Administration, Play It Again Sports franchisees have received 85 SBA-guaranteed loans; more than a quarter of those loans have been defaulted on by Foot Solutions franchise owners.
Play It Again Sports is owned by Winmark Corporation, the franchisor of more than 930 value-oriented retail stores operating under the names Once Upon A Child®, Plato’s Closet®, Play It Again Sports® and Music Go Round®.

Entrepreneur magazine reported that there were 337 Play It Again Sports franchises in 2008, but that the number declined to 304 U.S. franchise locations in 2011. That’s a decline of 33 locations, or 10% of the total chain, in just three years.

The numbers, however, were correct.
According to Entrepreneur, the number of US Play It Again Sports franchises has continued to decline:
2011: 304
2012: 283
2013: 272
2014: 253
2015: 261
2016: 251
I’ve been doing business with this Play It Again Sports on Country Club Road for many years until the last year they’ve hired some younger staff who are better than the average citizen quote unquote and they honestly think they’re s*** don’t stink but every time I take something in there that is definitely worth buying or of value they Overlook it and turn me down and quite frankly it pisses me off because they’re spoon fed little brats he don’t know the value of anything but just the fact that they make us little customers or us less than average customers feel so belittled while we’re there I will never do business with this place again again it’s the staff at Play It Again Sports on Country Club who think they’re crap does not stink and we’re spoon fed and don’t know the value of anything they’re rude they are arrogant and they are definitely not worth having as employees because they make people feel stupid I will never do business with that place again
