On May 22 and May 23rd, 2026, Gross Law Firm, on behalf of controversial and embattled seller DonutNV Franchising Inc., filed lawsuits against twelve DonutNV franchisees, including three military Veterans. The lawsuit filings followed an unsuccessful attempt by a 20+ coalition of franchisees to engage with the franchisor through mediation. One of the franchisee entities being sued by the self-described DonutNV “franchise family” is owned by the parents of a severely ill daughter battling a life-threatening disease.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.
But first, some disclaimers worth reading… by Sean Kelly, founder, Truth for Veterans, Truth for All
Disclaimer #1: Gross Law Group’s role. Gross Law Group P.A. and its individual attorneys (named Travis Tarpeh) are acting as legal counsel to DonutNV Franchising Inc. They have prepared and submitted lawsuit the filings, but its technically their client who is suing the franchisees, including military Veterans and the corporate entity owned by the parents of a severely ill child.
However, the decision to actively prosecute, litigate against, and silence military veterans remains a conscious business and ethical choice made by the firm and its leadership. Attorneys are bound by ethical codes to act in their clients’ best interests; however, it is the editorial opinion of this publication that by engaging in scorched-earth tactics against veterans, parents, their franchisee investors, and this publication is clearly NOT in their clients’ best interest.
Disclaimer #2: Congressional Candidate Keith Gross’ Role. The founder and head of Gross Law Group, Keith Gross aka Keithly Gross, is a candidate running for the open Congressional seat in Florida’s Second District (Florida’s Veteran-rich panhandle). Mr. Gross is running on his promise to advocate for Veterans and common people, not corporate or big-money interests. Keith Gross has claimed that while “other attorneys” in his 3-lawyer firm represent DonutNV Franchising Inc., he personally does not.
We again invite Veteran Keith Gross – and his husband, DonutNV advisor Scott Marr – to stand up for the rights due and the welfare of the military Veterans of DonutNV, of the military family members, and of the hard-working people who’ve lost or are losing their investments in the troubled brand.
Full Disclosure: This Author is Also Being Sued by DonutNV. The author and this publication are in Day 491 as Defendants in a defamation lawsuit filed by DonutNV Franchising Inc. Our suit is being litigated by another of the small donut franchisor’s three law firms: Klehr, Harrison, Harvey & Branzburg of Philadelphia. DonutNV is financing the three-attorney team of Doher Joseph Ferris, William Clements & Christopher Leavell.
Jaryeneh Travis Tarpeh (aka Travis Tarpeh) is an attorney at Gross Law Group, P.A. of Panama City, Florida.
According to his Gross Law bio, Travis Tarpeh graduated from Florida State University (FSU) with a degree in Philosophy and worked at the DeKalb County Ethics Board in Georgia.
Of all the subjects a young, idealistic philosophy student could choose for a thesis, Travis Tarpeh wrote “The Ethics of Corruption.”
Read: Travis Tarpeh, The Ethics of Corruption
According to the paper’s abstract, “This thesis should be of significant interest; for it advances non-utilitarian moral reasons for excusing acts of corruption.”
As the lead counsel for the overlawyered DonutNV, and an attorney working for a potential member of Congress, Travis Tarpeh will have ample opportunity to put his theory to the test.
We invite Mr. Tarpeh to justify the moral blamelessness of a firm that sues military Veterans and distraught parents in crisis.
While researching the families being sued by their own DonutNV franchise family, I came across this heart-wrenching post from last December. The author is one of those targeted by the lawsuits filed by Gross Law and Travis Tarpeh.
To be clear, I’ve never spoken to her or her husband.
I do not know them. Unfortunately, my wife and I know their situation, and exactly how they’re feeling, all too well.
The mother wrote:
I don’t share much about my personal life on here, but over the past few days my family has been walking through one of the hardest and most terrifying moments of our lives. Yesterday, I reached out asking for prayers, and so many of you wrapped us in love without even knowing the details. I want you to know how much that meant — more than I could ever put into words.
For the last two years, our sweet [name withheld] has been battling anorexia, along with depression and anxiety.
It’s been a long, painful journey, with moments of hope and moments of heartbreak.
She had been doing so well since February, but in the past few weeks she began to spiral again. By Saturday, things reached a crisis we never expected to face.
She was restricting severely, not eating or drinking for days at a time, struggling with self-harm, and on Saturday she reached a place where she wanted to end her life. Her friend bravely contacted us, and called 911, and we rushed her to the hospital. From there she was transferred to Lincoln, and when her body continued to shut down — heart complications, kidney issues, and multiple syncopal episodes — her doctor told us honestly that she didn’t think [she] would make it to Christmas without more intensive intervention.
Hearing those words as a mother shattered me in a way I can’t explain.
She was transferred to Children’s [Hospital], where she is now finally receiving the level of care she desperately needs.
And for the first time in weeks, today we saw glimmers of our girl again — asking to watch TV, wanting to crochet, showing small signs of fight and life.We are focusing entirely on getting her stable and safe before we continue exploring long-term treatment options out of state.
I want to say thank you — truly, deeply — to everyone who has prayed for us, checked on us, or simply held us in your thoughts.
This has been the loneliest, most terrifying experience I’ve ever walked through. I was in complete and absolute terror that I was going to lose my daughter.Your support has meant more than I could ever express. Knowing we aren’t alone gives us strength to face each hour.
I also want to share something that is extremely difficult for me to talk about. Keira’s level of care is incredibly specialized and very expensive, and the suddenness and intensity of this crisis has put us in a very tough financial position. We are not people who ever ask for help lightly — and this is not easy to say — but if anyone feels led to help us in any way,
it would mean more to us than you could imagine. We aren’t asking for handouts; we are simply doing everything we can to keep our daughter alive, safe, and on the path to healing.
Please keep [our daughter] in your prayers as she begins the long journey toward healing. We are holding onto hope with everything we have.
God bless this family, and God bless their sweet daughter.
God bless all of you who read this and felt their pain deeply.
Your strength is needed to protect society from all who read it… and felt nothing.
